Stephy was born and raised in Suzhou, China. As a native Mandarin speaker, she also has extensive experience studying abroad—she studied and worked in Canada for eight years. While there, she obtained an Associate Degree and subsequent licensure in Early Childhood Education, with a concentration in infants/toddlers and special needs. She has been working with children ages one to six since 2013, primarily focusing on the toddler age group. After moving to New York, Stephy earned her American Montessori Society credential in Infant and Toddler Development and is now working toward her New York State teaching certification for Birth to Grade 2. This year marks her seventh year at Battery Park Montessori. Stephy believes that every child is unique and learns at their own pace. As a passionate educator, she enjoys designing classroom materials that reflect children’s interests and support their individual learning needs. She also hopes to plant a seed of Mandarin in each child’s heart, nurturing their curiosity and helping their love for the language and culture grow naturally over time. In her spare time, Stephy enjoys Pilates, wheel throwing, cooking, and traveling with her family.
