ABOUT
Battery park city RESILIENCY PROJECT

Battery Park City
Resiliency Project

The Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) is undertaking a major infrastructure initiative to improve storm resilience in our neighborhood. The project includes construction of a flood barrier system and enhancements to surrounding park areas — and because it is taking place directly adjacent to our school, we are committed to keeping families informed throughout.

What this means for Battery Park Montessori

Construction is ongoing and expected to continue through 2028. Families may notice intermittent noise, vibration, and changes to sidewalk and patio access as work progresses. We monitor conditions daily and adjust outdoor routines as needed to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for our children.

Meaningful improvements

Looking Ahead

While construction is underway, the completed project will bring meaningful improvements to our school environment. The renderings below show what families and children can look forward to.

How We're Staying Involved

Our leadership team is in active communication with BPCA, including direct engagement with BPCA leadership, to address timeline, safety, and any impacts to our school community. Topics under discussion include noise mitigation, excavation and material handling, and pedestrian safety around the site. Families will be notified promptly as new information becomes available.

Stay Informed

We include a construction update in our weekly family newsletter. For project-level information, the following resources are available directly from BPCA:
